New home new perspective, new blog home

Well NColsons doesn't really fit us anymore so I've created a new blog.  If you are like me this will cause some inconvienence but I'm sure you'll get over it.

See you there.

They Might be...

I'm feeling a little nostalgic.  I just ran across this video on another blog and started having flashbacks (not the drug induced kind, just the long term memory recovery kind.  When I was younger (about 6th grade and up) my BFF friend Angela and I loved the group "They Might be Giants."  I don't even know what type of music you would classify it as but it was fun.  We even had our parents drive us out to the Saltair to see them in concer.  So now I've seen some videos by the same group on the Disney Channel.  I guess it is inevitable that we all get older, change our lives, and start living for our children right? So here is my little shout out to the old times when they sang about birdhouses instead of the 1,2,3's. (Maybe some people don't change that much)   Enjoy

The Carpet

Introducing my eye sore for the next 12 months (at least)
drum roll........

BLOG 001BLOG 002BLOG 003
Your eyes are not deceiving you................... Why did they stop with the beige.......Here's a close up

What I don't get is this: What is the point of such busy carpet?  How would you ever decorate around it?  It is so loud that it has to be the focal point of the room.  Seriously, what kind of bed spread or children's room decor could possibly be out there that would compliment this!

Oye veh!  I'm sure there is a hotel room in vegas missing it's carpet right now.  ewh!

Things I Heart

In honor of V-day (booo....) rather than contributing the multi-bizillion dollar valentine's day industry I thought I would post a list of things I love.  In no particular order>
-My daughter.  Her personality is really coming through lately and it is hilarious.  I am amazed at everything she does, from picking her nose to saying "no."February 034
-My hubby.  You know we have known each other for over 10 years now.  Seriously....
-Magic erase sponges.  I just found these in the process of moving into our new place and they are magic.  They get everything off!
-Alone time. Kind of like now.  I treasure those quite moments when there are no demands.
-Target.  I have had to ban myself from the store in order to start saving money but I really love that place.
-Golashes (aka. rain boots).  Just got the cutest pair and think they are practical and whimsical.
February 032
-Snow.  I feel a little crazy listing this since the non-stop snow storms have been exhausting, but nothing is more beautiful than a sunny day after a snow storm.
-The way Silvi tilts her head and raises her shoulder.  I think it is some sort of body language but I'm lost on the meaning.
-Laughing.  I'm not a huge laugh out loud person, but I do like giggling, usually at some smart-a@# comment my hubby has made or the dramatics of a 1 year old.
-Personal space heaters.  New to me this year.  Nothing soothes me more than the direct heat of the space heater.  I typically dose off pretty quickly if I am in the same room as it.
-Free internet.  I'm not sure what this says about my morality, but I love being able to pick up  wireless internet signals...that I don't have to pay for. tisk tisk....I know.
-Taquitos.  I have eaten taquito's for lunch multiple days in a row.  Which brings me to my next love
-Toaster Ovens.  I use this way more than the microwave and I have really missed it the past few months.
-Totes, Bins, any sort of container.  Again, not sure what this says about me but I love containers.  Just picked up some handy baskets for the great price of 3.97 and I have been looking at them adoringly for about a week now as they store away all the toys .
-Tumble Bumble.  Even though I read this book a few times a day I still think it is cleverly written and sometimes recite it to myself when I'm trying to fall asleep.
-Dogs. I especially like my dog because she has a really sweet face.  Even Jon agrees that she is a good looking dog.
February 033
-Philly cheesesteak sandwhiches.  There is this little place just down the road dedicated to the yummy sandwhiches.  I just recently became a fan.
-Law and Order.  There is a reason why this show is in syndacation on 10 channels.
-Sleeping Silvia.  She is so sweet and really does have a baby doll face when she is asleep.
-Reading a good book.  Usually an "Oprah Book Club" indulgence. Recently this also includes "Tumble Bumble"  I may read it 3 times a day but the clever rhymes make me smile.
February 036
-Good conversation.  I love deep, thought provoking, serious conversations.
-Napping.  A guilty pleasure that I'm trying to avoid.  There is just nothing better than waking up from a nap so relaxed and snuggled in your bed.
-Sundays.  I enjoy church and just taking a day of rest with the whole family.  Sunday dinner is something to look forward to as well.
-My shower curtain.  It brightens my day.
February 041
-Baby words.  Instead of binki its "mimi", drink is "dink", Dada is "Gaga"...Hilarious

Wow, this is a lot more fulfilling than the "things that must go" list that I was contemplating.

We've moved....Again!

Yep, that's right.  We have moved for the 7th time in our 7 years of marriage.  Is there a name for this condition???  Well, we are settling into our little apartment/duplex and enjoying the hotel/casino style carpet in the bed rooms.  Was there a sale on carpet at the Courtyard Marriott?  It gives me a headache, but it is clean. I'll take clean over fashion.
So, now that we are getting back into the groove of life I'm trying to remember what I used to do with my time.  Now all my lovely mom friends are 2000 miles away.  I picked up a pass to the local aquarium and signed up for a Moms group but other than that I'm finding I have pretty open schedule.  I've been walking at the mall, but that does more harm than good since I window shop the whole time and dream of cute shoes or a snazzy shirt the rest of the day.   I know I really need to relish this down time and appreciate it for what it is since one day I'll be so busy with growing kids that I won't be able to see straight, but....I'm bored!  Anyone have any suggestions on productive activities?  I really don't want to sound ungrateful and my mom always said "if you are bored, then you must be a boring person" but come on, how much can you really do with a 1.5 year old?  I feel lucky to have this problem instead of trying to find time to spend with my daughter, really!  I just need some more structure to my day especially now that we are living on our own again.
Ok.  that's enough of that.
My final note.  I have now memorized a number of childrens books and find myself singing kids show songs as I lay in bed.  Seriously!
